The Collaboration Room was an artist-run space that I founded in Bloomington, IN. It was created to explore intergenerational visual arts collaborations.
When I moved to Bloomington, IN, I kept noticing this blue, yellow, and brick red building. At the time it was a business called My Beading Room (folks selling jewelry beads in the front and living in the back). When that closed and the space came up for rent, I signed a lease.
Besides myself, Matisse Giddings and John Berry were key-holders for the project. We hosted collaborators-in-residence and had a ton of events. Matisse hosted an animation club for kids.
Here is an article that captures some of the spirit of the place.
